Why Isaiah 7:14 Confuses People

Discovering Jesus in the OT cover

Welcome to Session 7 of the Discovering Jesus in the Old Testament online Bible study! Today, we’ll look at why Isaiah 7:14 causes so much confusion, and we’ll clear that confusion up.

Here’s how this will work:

  1. Watch this week’s video session above.
  2. Once you watch the video, answer the questions in the discussion section of this page. The questions relate to both the previous week’s study in the book as well as the video content. We hope these interactions will be both challenging and encouraging!
  3. After the video, we will let you know the personal study assignment for the next week in your Discovering Jesus in the Old Testament study book. That’s it!

How she gave the history to explain what was going on.
That He is intercession for me. BecauseI don’t know what to pray and knowing He praying for me gives me hope.
Yes I do because I need all the help I need
because there time I don’t know what to say.
    Verse 7.

#1 I agree with Becky, your historical explanations open new doors to understanding. But what stood out to me the most was how blatantly evil Ahaz was, that guy was a mess. When he rejected God{s sign, it reminded me of casting pearls before swine. I{m not sure why it stood out to me,it just did. But in spite of Ahaz, the Lord had good things coming for His people.

    2. How different Psalms stood for different things, Prophetic Psalms, Royal Psalms, etc.I wouldn’t have known that, it was interesting.

    3. Yes. I take comfort that He loves me enough to see me as He meant me to be, and defends me because of it.

    4. The Lord reigns, and has clothed us in His righteousness.

I also wanted to tell you that I did buy the book “Immortal” and when I went online to find it, I saw another that is called ” Why Does God Allow Evil”. I bought that one too, and I’m really anxious to get into it. My son didn’t just up and die, he was brutally stabbed to death, so I really want to hear Mr. Clay’s thoughts on it.

      1) His wickedness stands out to me too. His rejection of God brought the announcement of the coming phases. It’s as if God is showing us all the ways human rulers can fail so that we can turn to him.

      2) My next online study will likely be “Discovering Hope in the Psalms.” We’ll cover even more types.

I am so sorry over what you and your son suffered. There is so much evil in the world. I long for the new heaven and earth, where all evil is finally banished. May the Lord continue to bless and comfort you.
