Discovering Joy in Philippians Online | Session 8

Welcome to Session 8!

Discovering Joy in Philippians chapter 8 discussed our confidence in Christ. In this video, I’ll talk about two promises, two follies, and a better promise that’s part of our confidence in Christ. It’s a promise we can hold onto in times of trouble.

After you watch the video, please answer the questions you find below the video. You can copy your answers straight from the book. Then, during the upcoming week, complete Chapter 8: Know Christ Jesus. It plunges deeply into just five powerful verses. When you’re finished, return here for the next video.

If you can’t participate now, that’s okay. I’ll leave these posts up for you to do when you’re ready.

Sometimes fiction offers the best tool for understanding the unknown. Here are my favorite depictions of the afterlife.

    1) Praise the Lord and glorify him! He gave me a wonderful husband. He provides medicine for pain. He arranged a contract for more books. He is faithful, and I put my trust in him. Praise the Lord and glorify him forever!

    2) Praise the Lord! God has taken me from darkness and death into light and life through Jesus my Lord. He has cleansed me from sin. I trust in Jesus for salvation. Praise the Lord!

    3) I’m continuing the joy-builder from chapter 6 based on Philippians 2:3-4: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” Reciting this verse and prayerfully finding ways to apply it is bringing great joy.

      1-2) Beautiful psalms! Wow.
      3) I’m with you! Counting others as more significant, getting rid of selfish ambition and conceit, and looking out for others interests is life-changing when it comes to joy. Without these, bitterness over what seems unjust will overtake us and hurt others.
      Thanks for sharing.
