Discovering Joy in Philippians Online | Session 7

Welcome to Session 7!

Discovering Joy in Philippians talks a lot about what we can rejoice in. In fact, our next chapter’s Day 5 joy builder will help us discover godly reasons to rejoice. To prepare us for that, in the video below I’ll talk about three things the Bible tells us not to rejoice in.

After you watch the video, please answer the questions you find below the video. You can copy your answers straight from the book. Then, during the upcoming week, complete Chapter 7: Embrace Confidence in Christ. When you’re finished, return here for the next video.

If you can’t participate now, that’s okay. I’ll leave these posts up for you to do when you’re ready.

Video: What Not to Rejoice In

Questions to answer in the comments:

  1. Page 106 question 18: List ways you could help others spread the gospel.
  2. Page 108 question 25b: How might your strengths make you more suited than most others to aid in ministry or service needs that exist around you?
  3. What joy builder helped you the most this week?

Before watching next week’s video…

Complete Chapter 7: Embrace Confidence in Christ. Then, come back next week so we can discuss it.

    1) Give money to missionaries; write books that help people explain the gospel; write blog posts that explain some of the issues Christians need help in when sharing the gospel.
    2) Women need Bible studies with depth, and that’s something I can help with. I can also help address doubts and false beliefs.
    3) For my “look out for others” joy builder, I memorized Philippians 2:3-4 and spent the week trying to value others above myself. That resulted in more joy because I knew I was making decisions that pleased God and blessed others.

1.Create a coloring book with scriptures. support missionaries, support counselors at Christian camps.
    2. Christian women need sisters in Christ to fellowship with and I have started helping one with these lessons she just ordered her book because I was telling her about my studies in Discovering Joy in the Philippians.
3.For my joy builders I spent the week giving other people their way I also put my husbands interest before my own. Which created more joy as seeing other people happy creates joy

Kim, isn’t it amazing (and counter-intuitive) that looking out for others gives US joy??

#1. There are so many ways to help spread the gospel. You can give financial help to missionaries and ministries. You can teach, and share the gospel with friends and family, or even strangers. You can teach also by example, when people can see the love of Jesus in how you conduct your daily llfe
#2. Around me right now is my family. They know my position in Christ. They turn to me when they need God centered answers or advice, or prayer chain. They may not all walk the walk, but they do know to turn to God in times of trouble and many times they ask me for direction or answers.
#3. Putting my spouses interest above my own.
